Remembering the Air Force Deployment Vacation posted on 22 April 2013 in Holiday and Travel Surviving six years in the United States Air Force I experienced many deployments. Some of those deployments included Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kuwait. Or as was commonly stated in the military sand box deployments. However, I was given an incredible opportunity to deploy to Curacao. Curacao was the deployment I will always refer to as the Deployment Vacation. The reason is as simple as it sounds. It was a deployment that was a vacation. We stayed in a four star hotel for 6 months. Free food and open bar.....wow is all I can say. Aside from that the hotel was located 100 ft off the beach line. The beach was absolutley gorgeous. Clean, soft, white sandy beaches accomponied by ocean front water that was more clear than the swimming pool in one's backyard. Stunning to say the least. Aside from just the hotel, every tourist attraction on the island was just as gorgeous. The nightclubs were all located along beaches. The resteraunts were all unique unlike anything most people have ever experienced. For instance one of the steak resteraunts seved their steaks rarley cooked on a heated flat stone. The stone would continue to cook the steak while it sat in front of you. A very uique dining experience to say the least. Among all of these typical things you would expect from a vacation resort one thing that will always stand out the most was the cliff jumping spots. Areas along the beach would have measured rock jumping points from 10-50 ft jumps. This was the most memorable experience because of the adrenaline rush associated with it. Most people may find cliff jumping exciting just in itself. Now imagine doing this in water that was crystal clear. The water would be 70ft deep but look like it was a foot deep. You could see everything laying on the bottom of the water with such clarity that it was hard to rap your mind around jumping. The brain would just think that the water wasn't deep enough even though it was. Truly crazy experience. All in all those six months went by like as if we were only there a week. So, If you were to ever consider going there surley try to spend more than a week there. I'd imagine one week their would seem like an hour.
